The teak deck of a boat acts as a business card
Marine Teak International is our forest products subsidiary for the yacht building market

MTI Holding SA provides strategic, administrative and technical management to its subsidiaries.

Teak is probably the best-protected commercial species in the world. Elephants are still being used extensively to extract teak because of their low impact upon the environment. Elephants do far less damage to forests than heavy caterpillars and other logging equipment. Teak is not a tropical rainforest species. It grows sparsely in mixed deciduous forests. In its natural environment there are only 1 to 5 trees per acre in the best growing areas but Burma established plantations in 1856 with the assistance of some very farsighted foresters who saw the need to treasure these renewable sustained yield resources for future generations. MTI Holding SA sees no contradiction between ecological and economic demands. People and the environment have been the focus of our activities since the day the company was founded. A concern for the environment and safety are an integral component of every management task and every staff action throughout the value chain in order to satisfy the three basic requirements of sustainable development – which may be summed up as “profit, people, planet".

We take many additional steps to help protect and preserve the worlds forest resources
Here are some more of the things we do:
MTI preferences products that have been value added at their point of origin in support of local communities.
MTI utilizes independent inspection and grading services to verify that all materials sold under our name are produced from legally harvested logs and in compliance with all international laws and regulations relating to the trade of timber products.
MTI is Lacey Act compliant. This act prohibits trade in wildlife, fish, and plants that have been illegally taken, possessed, transported or sold.

By controlling our own supply chain from forest to mill, we are able to consistently provide the finest logs, lumber, and teak decking to our customers. Our logs are converted into rough-sawn timbers and boards to our precise cut schedules. Each piece is coded to identify the individual log source, enabling us to supply sequence matched lumber for projects requiring superior visual effect. As you know traditional quarter cutting of sawn logs have almost disappeared and with it, the skill to produce stable boards for decking. We still offer this traditional cutting service which result in a more stable and even wearing deck. We could provide up 6.5-metre nearly perfect teak to our customer.

Timber is one of the safest and steadiest growth investments available, protecting an investor in times of inflation , and providing returns that have beaten almost every other investment sector over the past 40 years. Teak in particular offers one of the best values and highest yields in the timber sector. It is a small niche segment of the timber industry and is managed by smaller, privately owned companies rather than by big institutional operators.Over the last five years, teak prices have been increasing at about 7% per year.In summary, timber is one of the safest and highest yield long-term investment classes available — and teak is one of the best timber investments available.
Recognition and respect of indigenous peoples' rights
Maintenance or enhancement of long-term social and economic well-being of forest workers and local communities and respect of worker’s rights.
Equitable use and sharing of benefits derived from the forest
